Hypocrites take ‘Pirates’ to the Big Apple this fall

May 24, 2017

This November 20th- December 10th hang out with the Pirates as a part of The Skirball Center 2017-2018 Season. This is the New York City premiere of The Hypocrites’ production of Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert & Sullivan.

The adaptation by Sean Graney and Kevin O’Donnell with Music Direction by Andra Velis Simon has been a crowd favorite across the country for the past seven years. Sappy pirates, dewy-eyed damsels, bumbling bobbies and a stuffy Major General. Artistic Director Sean Graney brings his singular sense of humor to one of the most beloved operettas of all time in a promenade production that features only ten performers who are their own orchestra.
