Metropolis announces cast for fall production of ‘Young Frankenstein’

Frankenstein mediumArlington Heights – Metropolis begins its 2016-2017 Season with the musical comedy The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein September 22 – November 6, 2016.

Comedic genius Mel Brooks’ hit movie comes to life in this mad-cap musical. Frederick Frankenstein distances himself from his family legacy but a call to settle his inherited estate in Transylvania brings him closer to the ancestors famous for bringing the dead back to life. With the help of a hunchbacked side-kick, Igor (pronounced Eye-Gore) and a voluptuous lab assistant, Inga, Frederick finds himself swept into the mad scientist shoes of his grandfather. This raucous musical comedy hit is filled with memorable songs like Transylvania Mania and Puttin’ On The Ritz.

Director Robin M. Hughes is working with an extraordinarily talented cast, including local cast members Sari Greenburg of Buffalo Grove, Dan Hamman of Glenview, Ryan Jozaitis of Roselle, and Allyssa O’Donnell of Clarendon Hills.

Preview performances of The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein at Metropolis are September 22–25, 2016. Regular run performances are September 28 – November 6, 2016. Metropolis’ cast for The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein includes Patrick Tierney (Dr. Frederick Frankenstein), T.C. Fair (The Monster), Nathan Cooper (Igor), Ali Breneman (Inga), Sari Greenberg (Elizabeth Benning), Susan Wingerter (Frau Blucher), John Gurdian (Inspector Hans Kemp), Kevin Lauerman (The Hermit, Dr. Victor Von Frankenstein), Matthew Huston (Ziggy), Ryan Jozaitis (Telegraph Boy), and Joseph Kuchey (Steward). The ensemble includes Jimmy Capek, Dan Hamman, Allyssa O’Donnell, Kara Schoenhofer, Laura Sportiello, Monica Szaflik and Marissa Williams. Understudies include Jimmy Capek, T.C. Fair, John Gurdian, Dan Hamman, Kevin Lauerman, Laura Sportiello, Monica Szaflik, and Marissa Williams.

 The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein has a book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan, Music and Lyrics by Mel Brooks, Original Direction and Choreography by Susan Stroman. Directed by Metropolis Resident Director Robin M. Hughes, Music Directed by Metropolis Resident Music Director Micky York, Choreographed by Kristine Burdi. Designers are Marc Beth (Sound Designer), Adam Liston (Scenic Designer/Technical Director), Holly McCauley (Properties Designer), kClare McKellaston (Costume Designer), Joe Mohamed (Lighting Designer) and Michael Wagner (House Technician/Master Electrician). Metropolis Production Manager is William Franz.

The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein is the first show of the 2016-2017 Season at Metropolis, bringing first class entertainment to the northwest suburbs.
