MSG brings ‘Death of A King: A Live Theatrical Experience’ to Chicago Theatre in January

Chicago – The Madison Square Garden Company and Jam Theatricals announced today that best-selling author Tavis Smiley will bring Death of A King: A Live Theatrical Experience to The Chicago Theatre on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 7:30 PM. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 10:00AM.

Death of A King: A Live Theatrical Experience is a multi-media stage presentation of Tavis Smiley’s best-selling book, “Death of A King: The Real Story of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Final Year,” that brings together elements of visual imagery, live music and eloquent prose to commemorate the upcoming 50th anniversary of King’s death.

Smiley narrates this joyful tribute that tells the story of Dr. King’s final year. Against all the odds, King summoned the courage, conviction, commitment and character to bring a message of peace, equality and justice to a divided nation. Joining Smiley will be renowned jazz pianist Marcus Roberts, known as the genius of modern piano, who will be performing thrilling original compositions.
